Roles of Priests and Kings

Priests:
- 1. Carried the responsibility of hearing from God.
- 2. Offered sacrifices for the people.
- 3. Received tithes and offerings from the people.
- 4. Cared for the house of God.
- 5. Cared for the widows and orphans.
- 6. Cared for the stranger at the gate.
- 7. Spoke encouragement to the people before battle.
- 8. Blessed the Kings. (Du 20:34)
Kings:
-
1. Destroyed the enemies of God.
- 2. Took the spoils of war.
- 3. Paid tithes and offerings to the priests.
- 4. Governed the physical affairs of the nation.

Role of Clergy and Laymen
Corresponding Role Today
Clergy:
- - Always sensitive to what God is saying
- - Dealing with sins of the people
- - Properly receive and disperse finances
- - Physical & social church
- - Insure widows/orphans receive attention
- - Insure those outside church receive needed attention
- - Encourage laymen going to work
- - Pray blessings for the businessmen/leaders
Laymen:
- - Win others to Christ; become successful
- - Make profits
- - Pay tithes and offerings
- - Actively involved in governing the land
